A little History about the Sandy Lake Sportsmen’s Club

2009 marks the 70th year for our club. After holding meetings here and there for several years, we purchased for the sum of $850.00 a tract of land that contained 112 acres. This was in 1946 and the two story old farm house became the Sportsmen's Club meeting place for several years. We selected and cut our timber and used monies received to build a Modern Clubhouse, 100-200 yard rifle range and skeet field. Our rifle range has covered shooting benches with a clubhouse for the rifle shooters. We have a walk-thru muzzleloader range with its own building for comfort.

Some years late, our timber was selected and cut again, using the money to expand our skeet fields. We now have three fields that are among the finest in the state. Our skeet club is a member of the French Creek Valley Skeet League. After 27 years we have several champions from these activities. Each Wednesday evening there is a shoot on the 200 yard rifle range, with shooters ranging in age (40 years and up) with challengers welcome if you are a top shooter. Our yearly events include seedling planting, Annual Fall Picnic, in conjunction with Hunting and Fishing day.

Our Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8:00 pm.
